Certificate II in Leadership, Life skills and Transition (Run by WHFS and South Metropolitan TAFE)

This qualification is a good stepping stone for those wishing to:

  • undertake further studies,
  • enter the work force and/ or
  • become more actively involved in their community.

Certificate II in Leadership provides participants with basic leadership skills that are applicable to a range of industries and career groups. Students learn about occupational health and safety, computer and office skills (how to chair meetings, and prepare agendas and take minutes), how to develop and implement a project, work with others in a team, and more!   The course is also an opportunity for women to gain an Australian qualification.

Certificate II in Leadership is considered full time study and is Centrelink approved. Participants may be  eligible for JET child care subsidy. Classes are held 3 days per week 9am to 2:30 pm during school terms.

The class is for women only and is taught by women lecturers. Please note there is NO onsite childcare provided for this course.

This 16 hour course is Worksafe WA recognised and nationally accredited and covers emergency first aid for workplaces and other settings with scenarios involving adults, children and infants. The course typically takes place over 3 sessions.

This 4 hour workshop meets the annual recertification requirements for women who have an existing certificate in Provide First Aid HLTAID003. This workshop focuses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and responding to critical first aid incidents.

Mental Health First Aid is an internationally accredited training course. the 12-hour course teaches people 18 years and over how to provide initial support to family, friends or colleagues who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. Over two full days, course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health challenges and illnesses, how to provide initial support, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
